About
The garden at ‘Nabinabah’ was lovingly planted by my grandmother, Judith known as ‘Woojie’ to her grandchildren, and passed down to my mother, Ali, who has tirelessly cared for it since the early 1990s. The soaring Oak and Plane trees, planted by my granny as tiny seedlings, were my playground growing up. My childhood was coloured by countless hours with them both in the garden, tending to all the plants and flowers there. Together, their love of gardening was passed down to me, and continues to shape my life and the way I see the world.
During my medical degree and subsequent years as a junior doctor, I continually found myself going back to Gundy and the garden as a way to process working on the wards.
As I continued to progress in my career, I inevitably kept finding myself back in the garden. I became determined to find a way to share the beauty of the garden as a way to bring joy into the lives of those around me - in the way the garden has for me. With the support of my husband, Eddie, and parents, Ali and Ian, this has evolved into growing flowers to be shared with my family and friends, followed by the trial of a more formal cut flower garden and the development of The Gardening Practitioner today.
This digital newsletter hopes to nurture and inspire you in your own garden and connect those who are otherwise feeling isolated by the many challenges of modern life. Whilst in its early stages, I hope we can bring some joy and wonder in and amongst your day.
With much love,
Juliet x
